Buy Argan Oil from Amal Oils, Cheaper than Josie Maran and Kahina

If you are reading this blog it is probably because you are either in love with argan oil, you are shopping around, or you just aren’t sure if argan oil is right for you and you are on the fence about buying your first bottle of argan oil.  You’ve probably done your research and have found that there are a bunch of different brands of pure argan oil and you aren’t quite sure how to differentiate between them all.  Start with quality.  Quality is the most important factor in any product that you are going to be putting on your face. Without trying them all it is hard to differentiate between quality, but what you can do is weed out the non-organic brands.  And by organic, that means everything that isn’t Eco Cert USDA approved.  Amal Oils is 100% Organic and certified by EcoCert.

The second important factor is packaging.  Oils are best kept in dark glass packaging because it protects the oil from damage from UVA and UVB rays.  WIthout this protection the oil risks losing some of its most important nutrients.  Eden Allure uses a plastic bottle.

The third factor that you will learn once you have started trying organic argan oils is that the scent and the texture of the oil will vary from producer to producer, and this is a major factor in compatible the oil is with your skin.  Pure argan oil should never have a very strong smell, if you find it offensive chances are the oil has gone bad.  Make sure that you are buying oil from a producer that has fresh product and is known for their argan oil.

And finally the last factor that you should look for is how the company supports the Berber women cooperatives in Morocco and the  argan reforestation project.  Both of these causes are very important for the continued availability of argan oil and to the wellbeing of the women in Morocco that make argan oil products available to us.

That leaves you with bout a handful of brands and the rest you can compare on price. One way to really help yourself out is to purchase online, and this goes for all beauty products.  Going directly to the manufacturers site usually will save you some money as opposed to ordering from distributors like Sephora.  You won’t regret spending the extra minute or two it takes to checkout online because it will save you from having to go to the store and wait in the checkout line.

There are two or three that you have probably seen in your research, Josie Maran ($48 for 1.67oz), Kahina ($36 for 1oz) and Amal Oils (2oz. for $28 with promotion).  So if you are looking for argan oil at a discount prices, but aren’t willing to give up quality, then go for Amal Oils.  The internet makes it so easy to buy argan oil that you’ll have your pure argan oil in 2-3 days and it won’t put a dent in your pocket.

Interesting Blog Post on Josie Maran Cosmetic Products…. Be aware of what you are putting on your skin

So as I was browsing around today this interesting post from Terry Bly came up and it exposes all of the hidden toxic products that are used in Josie Maran’s supposed natural, organic cosmetic line. Buyers of Josie Maran Cosmetics beware! Here is the link to the full article.

Highlights from the article:

  • "Her products are so riddled with synthetics"
  • There is polybutane (petro-origin, also found in lubricating oil, sealing tape and cable insulation) in her lipgloss
  • The brand claims to not add fragrances to products but then put synthetic frangrances like Vanillyl Butyl Ether.

DIY Lip Balm with Argan Oil

Amal Oils Argan Oil DIY Lip Baln

.
As the winter approaches I want to make sure to prepare my lips for the cold. I decided to make a DIY Lip Balm using Amal Oils 100% Organic Argan Oil (http://www.amaloils.com)

Equipment Needed:
• Stovetop
• Double boiler to melt ingredients in
• Measuring spoons
• Plastic pipettes (droppers) to help you pour melted ingredients into your tubes or tubs without spilling.
• Tubes or tubs to hold lip balm. I prefer to use metal tins instead of plastic because they have less of an environmental impact.

The Basics:
For a firm lip balm that can be used in a tube or tub, you will need a ratio of about 2:4 solids to liquids. Solids meaning wax & butters, liquids meaning oils. If you find your final product too thick, add more oils. If it is too thin, add more solids.

For solids, I use bee’s wax & mango butter. Other solids are also available.

For liquids, I use Amal Oils 100% Organic Argan Oil.

Put all of your ingredients in a double boiler and let them melt. Make sure to stir the mixture.

Want to add shimmer or Color? Mica Powders will add a shimmer to you final product and you can use shavings of your favorite red lipstick or D&C colors to your mixture.

Amal Oils 100% Organic Argan Oil Shaving Prep

Hey guys! Stop walking around with toilet paper all over your face after shaving! It’s time to embrace taking good care of your skin (we won’t tell.) Skincare expert Annet King has skin solutions for any shaving, skin, or razor “situation” you may encounter.

DILEMMA #1: You fail to prep!

The ingrown hairs are still there and when you shave over the area, you bleed!

SKIN SOLUTION: Use a gentle scrub to loosen dead skin cells to  help get the hairs out in the open, then use Amal Oils 100% Organic Argan Oil (http://www.amaloils.com)  to soften skin and hair prior to shaving. Results: Less nicks and cuts.

DILEMMA #2: You have irritated skin and razor burn!

Rashes and redness are partly caused by heavily fragranced soap-based shaving formulas. Shaving gels are generally drying, as they are strongly alkaline instead of being pH balanced to the skin. Most cheap shave gels and foams are packed with fragrance, alcohols and don’t provide much of a buffer between skin and razor. Fragrance strips are now even located on the actual razo

SKIN SOLUTION: Look for pH balanced shaving products with soothing calming ingredients and those that are either fragrance-free or naturally fragranced with botanicals and essential oils. If doing some serious “manscaping,” go for a clear gel or silicone-based shaving product that provides a buffer between the blade and the skin, but allows you to see where you are shaving. Results: Less irritation, redness and after burn!

DILEMMA #3: Your razor isn’t sharp enough or sterile.

It lives in the bathroom’s damp, wet environment and is potentially infested with bacteria!

SKIN SOLUTION: A fresh blade should really be used every time. Alternatively, rinse your razor with mouthwash or anti-bacterial wash to sterilize it before use.

DILEMMA #4: The Aftershave Sting!

Many men apply lotions immediately after shaving and wonder why their skin stings!! This removes the “stratum disjunctum,” which are the top 3-4 layers of dead cells, (which the chemicals in products can easily irritate.)

SKIN SOLUTION: After shaving, soothe skin areas with a non-perfumed, alcohol free, non-comedogenic moisturizer like Amal Oils 100% Organic Argan Oil (http://www.amaloils.com) and wait a few hours before applying self tanner.

DILEMMA #5: You forgot sunscreen!

Newly shaved skin is exfoliated skin, and much more prone to burning and hyperpigmentation. Immediate sun exposure after shaving is not advised!

SKIN SOLUTION: Sunscreen must be used liberally after shaving, but wait a few hours for the barrier to be renewed or chemical sunscreens will burn. Alternatively use a physically fragrance free block.

Is Your Shampoo Damaging Your Hair?

EXPERTS RECOMMEND AVOIDING INGREDIENT THAT LITERALLY STRIPS HAIR OF ITS SOFTNESS AND LUSTER.

As alarming as it sounds, the very shampoo you are using to cleanse and beautify your hair could actually be doing more harm than good. In recent years, hair experts around the world have noticed a sharp increase in the number of people suffering from thin, dry and damaged hair that looks dull and old. And it’s not excessive styling and color treatments that are to blame.

Is Lather really bad?

Most shampoos sold at retail stores (and even many promoted at high-end beauty salons) contain sulfates. You’ll see this ingredient listed on the bottle as either SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) or SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). Studies have found some disturbing details about them:

  • Sulfates are very irritating to the scalp
  • Sulfates dry out hair follicles and strands
  • Sulfates strip hair of moisture
  • Sulfates bleach out key nutrients that keep hair soft and shiny

So why do shampoos contain SLES and SLS? Because these are foaming agents that produce the familiar lather that we think is necessary in order for a shampoo to work. “Not so,” says one hair expert. “When it really comes to cleansing hair and restoring its beauty, lather and foam are pointless. It’s a gimmick.”

Fortunately, you can now find a few advanced shampoos and conditioners that don’t contain SLES or SLS. Even better, some of these products also help to reverse years of stripping and damage caused by styling, drying and color treatments such as Amal Oils 100% Organic Argan Oil.
